Fun, Family and Fitness
On Memorial Day and every day since, my family and I have been going hiking at the Sabino Canyon Recreational
Center, and then swimming.
On the first day we walked 4 miles and saw some awesome wild life. Like fish in a creek, crazy colorful bugs and Dr. Seuss type trees, and of course huge, beautiful cactus and mountains.
On day two and three (today) we walked for 2 miles and we kept starting out earlier and earlier. It's been amazing.
Sabino Canyon is a
natural desert
oasis located in Tucson’s Coronado National Forest
and is home to spectacular desert landscapes and abundant
wildlife. The route we walked was the Sabino Canyon tram route, and it's mostly flat and paved.
It can be navigated by visitors of all ages, my little sister is 7 and she loves walking there and even hiking to the waterfalls. The main road we walked ascends from 2,800 to 3,300 feet.
It's been a truly awesome 3 days so far.We meet lots of cool people along the trails and have so much fun just being together. While we walk we sing songs, stop and check out the scenery and just enjoy being out in nature.
After our morning walks we go swimming in our community pool.
It's pretty awesome because it's a salt water pool and we are typically the only ones there because lots of people in our community have their own pools. I've been getting a lot better at swimming and so are my sisters.
My challenge has been treading in the deep end and I can now do that. Yay! I feel so much more comfortable now. I also love doing handstands and flips underwater! So fun! well that's all for now! I hope everyone is also having a super-duper, healthy, not-bummer summer!
