Fun, Family and Fitness

On Memorial Day and every day since, my family and I have been going hiking at the Sabino Canyon Recreational Center, and then swimming.

On the first day we walked 4 miles and saw some awesome wild life. Like fish in a creek, crazy colorful bugs and Dr. Seuss type trees, and of course huge, beautiful cactus and mountains.

On day two and three (today) we walked for 2 miles and we kept starting out earlier and earlier.  It's been amazing.

Sabino Canyon is a natural desert oasis located in Tucson’s Coronado National Forest and is home to spectacular desert landscapes and abundant wildlife.

The route we walked was the Sabino Canyon tram route, and it's mostly flat and paved.

It can be navigated by visitors of all ages, my little sister is 7 and she loves walking there and even hiking to the waterfalls. The main road we walked ascends from 2,800 to 3,300 feet.

It's been a truly awesome 3 days so far.
We meet lots of cool people along the trails and have so much fun just being together.  While we walk we sing songs, stop and check out the scenery and just enjoy being out in nature.

After our morning walks we go swimming in our community pool.

It's pretty awesome because it's a salt water pool and we are typically the only ones there because lots of people in our community have their own pools. I've been getting a lot better at swimming and so are my sisters.

My challenge has been treading in the deep end and I can now do that. Yay! I feel so much more comfortable now.  I also love doing handstands and flips underwater! So fun! well that's all for now! I hope everyone is also having a super-duper, healthy, not-bummer summer!

Hey everyone! Welcome to my blog, I am so happy to share with you my first “Super Duper Healthy Not Bummer Summer” blog post. So for my first summer adventure today, like most Sundays, our family went to Brandi Fenton Park. It's a pretty cool park with a splash pad, several playgrounds, soccer fields, walking and biking trails, exercise stations, and covered ramadas for picnicking and grilling.

My dad plays soccer there every Sunday and we usually go and run around, play at the splash pad and just have fun.  Today, the temperature was AWESOME! Like there was a nice cool breeze blowing at the tempertures were around 75 when we got there at 8AM.  Today, I didn't do the splash pad but just jogged around the field, played soccer with my brother and sisters and on the playground a bit.

One not so bright spot, I actually fell and got a little scratched up, that wasn't fun at all, but after I took some time to recover and watched my daddy play soccer, I was just fine. My Dad, actually scored two goals and that was fun as we cheered loudly for him.

When we got home, we watched movies and then I helped my mommy make a delicious and healthy dinner.

It was pan seared Tilapia Fish with veggies and a delish black bean, sun-dried tomato, and brown rice cake. YUM!!

Not a bad start to summer!!
